More bad news....

This morning I woke up to a text from Shelby. Her house caught on fire again last night which means more damage to the home and to her family :( None of them were there of course but they are truly going through a nightmare..

I just wish I could understand how God is working in all of this…I just can’t understand this at all. I just wish I could do something for them..but it’s so hard. Especially because I can’t even imagine what to do..and I’m in Arizona. Please help them Jesus..I know you will turn this into something good but right now I’m just so confused. Help us all to place our faith in You and You alone.

I'll Praise You in this Storm

Around 9:30pm yesterday I found out from my best friend since 3rd grade - shelby, that there was a fire in her house in the very early morning on thursday. A lot of damage was done, but it will be repaired. The main thing is that her mom and dad and her 8 year old little sister Ashley all got out ok. The fire started in the room where Ashley was sleeping. She got up just in time to get out of the room and get her parents out of the house. When I first heard the news I was completely at a loss for words. How could God let something so horrific happen to really good people that I really care about? I was very confused and frustrated. But then Shelby said to me - Jesus woke up Ashley, praise Him for his protection over my precious family. It’s devastating, but it’s more of a miracle than a tragedy!” I just really admire Shelby for seeing the positive side of such a sad situation. I know that they will all end up ok and their faith in the Lord is so strong I know that through all of this they can feel his presence. Ever since I found out about 5 hours ago I have had the song, “Praise You in this Storm” by Casting Crowns in my head. It’s such a great and powerful song and it’s the attitude that Shelby is choosing to have through all of this and I admire that so much. If anyone reads this, please pray for the Shores to be able to find ways praise Him in this storm.

I was sure by now
God You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say “Amen”, and it’s still raining

As the thunder rolls
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain
“I’m with you”
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away

[Chorus:]
And I’ll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
And every tear I’ve cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry to you
And you raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can’t find You

But as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
“I’m with you”
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away

[Chorus]

I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of Heaven and Earth
